Getting Started
This website has been designed with kids in mind (maybe even a few grown ups aswell). We want kids to learn how to draw, colour and create. These are essential things a child will need to learn so we have developed all our pages so that your child can learn how to draw cartoon character whenever they want to. Let’s make learning fun for all our kids.
If you like our website and find it very useful then please buy a copy of our website on disc. Whether you use it for easy reference, stocking filler, present or so that you always have it even if your internet connection is down.
Happy drawing….
What you will need to draw
Before you begin, gather up these swell supplies
- Some pencils
- Paper – A sketch pad is best, but any plain paper will do.
- Pencil sharpener
- Rubber
Later on, when you are ready to colour your drawings, you may want to try out some felt-tips, markers, crayons, coloured pencils, water colours or even acrylic paint.
Master the basics
Before learning to draw any cartoon characters, it’s a good idea to get warmed up. Start by drawing simple shapes like circles ovals and curves. Don’t worry about making them perfect, just keep your wrist nice and loose. When you feel comfortable with your shapes, move on to the next steps and just take one thing at a time.
Take it Step by Step
Usually artists draw characters in several steps. Sometimes the steps are different, depending on what you’re drawing. The important thing to remember is to start simply and add details later. The blue lines in our steps show each new step and the black lines show what you have already drawn.
